A Somatic Movement Practice Rooted in Healing and Presence
Discovery Somatics is a somatic movement practice grounded in lived experience, nervous system awareness, and gentle, intentional movement. Founded by Michelle, the practice supports people seeking relief from chronic pain, stress, and physical disconnection by helping them reconnect with their bodies in a safe and accessible way.
This work did not begin as a business idea. It began as a personal need.
Michelle found somatic movement through her own experience with ongoing pain and physical limitation. Traditional approaches offered limited relief, while somatic practices offered something different. A way to listen to the body rather than push through it. Through slow, mindful movement, she began to rebuild trust in her body and experience meaningful change.
As her relationship with her body shifted, Michelle began sharing this work with others. Early sessions and conversations revealed consistent patterns. Reduced tension. Increased body awareness. A sense of feeling more at home in one’s body. These early experiences laid the groundwork for what would eventually become Discovery Somatics.
As the practice grew, Michelle recognized the need for a clearer and more accessible presence. She worked with Dory of WestCoast Thrive to help shape the Discovery Somatics brand in a way that felt aligned with the values of somatic practice. The focus was never on heavy branding or marketing. Instead, the goal was clarity and simplicity. Creating a website and visual identity that felt calm, human, and easy to engage with. The Discovery Somatics website was designed to help people understand what somatic movement is, who it is for, and what to expect, without pressure or overwhelm.
Alongside the online presence, Michelle completed a dedicated somatic movement studio. The studio was created with intention, supporting nervous system regulation and a sense of safety. It is a space designed for slowing down, listening inward, and exploring movement without judgment or expectation. Completing the studio marked an important milestone in the evolution of Discovery Somatics, giving the practice a physical home that reflects the work itself.
With the studio in place, somatic movement classes naturally followed. Group classes offer an opportunity to experience somatic practices in a shared environment while still honoring individual bodies and boundaries. Each class emphasizes awareness over effort. Movements are gentle, accessible, and adaptable. There is no pushing or performing. The focus remains on listening to the body and allowing change to happen gradually over time.
Discovery Somatics continues to evolve as Michelle listens closely to her clients and the work itself. New offerings and refinements emerge organically, guided by experience rather than trends. At its core, Discovery Somatics remains focused on helping people feel better in their bodies. Offering practical somatic tools that support healing, resilience, and self connection.
Discovery Somatics is rooted in authenticity, steady growth, and thoughtful collaboration. It offers a supportive space where movement becomes a conversation rather than a demand, and where progress is measured not by how far the body can go, but by how safe and supported it feels along the way.
